Mary Kay Shell lipstick – I forgot about this one for a few weeks and then when I wore it again it was instant love! It’s a perfect pinky nude for my skin color.
It has a creamy finish, and looks even more natural if you blot it a little. I love nude lipsticks, it’s a subtle effect that makes a world of difference. You look put together in a I-wake-up-like-this kind of way.
Compared here with Mac’s Creme in your Coffee:
They look really similar before you apply them, but then you can see clearly that the Mac is slightly darker and more brown than pink.
And finally them both with another nude from Fenzza, color “01”. I love this lipstick and its color, despite the generic packaging, but it lacks in durability compared to the other two. A matching lip gloss is also included, which I like to apply at the center of the lips to get a fuller effect.
When I went to Seattle earlier this year I tried to travel really light, since I was going to carry everything around by myself. That’s when having a travel kit can help you a lot!
I’m going to show you a few things I bought once I got there, which were the shampoo, the body wash and the facial scrub.
Pantene Pro-V Volume Silicone Free Shampoo: This one had a texture quite different from what I’m used to, a bit more viscous. I thought it was good but nothing special, and as I said in another post, I was more interested in trying the Aussie line.
Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Scrub: I’m so glad I got this one. I’ve been using facial scrubs at least three times a week lately, and I see a big difference compared to when I’m just using the regular soap. My skin feels much cleaner. I had heard of this one through other bloggers before, and now I also recommend it!
Softsoap Body Wash, Juicy Pomegranate and Mango Infusions: I just loved it, it smells great! And as specified in the package, it comes with little moisture beads. Me likes.
You can barely see the shampoo in this picture, but it is there!
I was glad I found those travel sizes, I bought them at a Walgreens close to the hostel where I stayed. It would be a waste to buy the normal sized ones because of the limits for liquids when flying, you’d probably have to throw them away!
I’ve had so much to do this week! I finally found some time to take care of my nails. I bought this nail polish when I wanted to try a softer shade, so I chose this lovely nude by Brazilian brand Risqué.
The first time I applied it I thought it looked a bit too subdued, but after a day or two I was already in love! I’ll try it with one of the Konad stamps to add some detail and see how it looks.
The coverage is quite good, I applied only one generous coat. Now I want to try other similar colors! Do you have one you’d recommend? I’d love to hear about it!
After reading about the wonders of silk pillowcases here and there on the internet I decided I should look further into it. And after finding out it was pretty much a sleeping beauty treatment, I decided I needed one, you know, to see by myself if it really worked such wonders (but if it didn’t I’d still be happy to have such a fancy pillowcase).
Second, I like quality and they are quality. A nice contrast with the rest of my bedroom. Makes me think about how far can I still go to a fancy lifestyle where the rest of my house will actually match a silk pillowcase.
But enough of my reasons, let’s go to the facts:
No more bad hair days: Silk has amino acids in common with your hair, and its smooth surface helps reduce the damaging friction that often causes split ends. It also keeps your hair more hydrated, while cotton absorbs most of its natural moisture.
That means your curls will be still looking good in the morning if you have them, not nearly as much tangles when you wake up and – yay – no super frizzy hair either.
All this works the same for your skin, which will stay smooth and hydrated (which maybe is not the best deal for super oily skin though). And you know when you wake up to see the creases of your pillow all pressed into your face? You’ll get less of those too.
Besides, cotton not only absorbs the moisture from your skin and hair, but also much of the skin care products you use hoping to see miracles over night, potentially diminishing their effectiveness. Seriously, cotton? Stop hindering our aesthetic efforts.
Silk fiber is produced with little chemical exposure, because the silk worms are raised in captivity. So I won’t be sleeping in the middle of chemicals without knowing it (I never felt anything, and I’m sure I would never notice, but it’s another benefit, good).
It’s naturally hypoallergenic because mites, fungi and molds apparently do not like silk.

LUXURY folks, sophistication. I love feeling like a lady sleeping on it. Good to think about riches and fancy lifestyles and motivate me to go study/work, because it ain’t gonna fall into my lap, you know.
So, I ordered mine from Amazon, and even though I live in Brazil it arrived quickly, just about over a week. I chose white because I wanted the most natural version.
It came with these instructions, if anyone needs, or are curious (and also because I want to throw the paper away, but just in case I need to take a look at it again, here it is):
Care instructions: Dry cleaning or washing by hand are the best methods for cleaning silk for longer periods of time. In contrast to the widespread opinion that silk can only be dry cleaned, washing silk by hand or on a gentle or hand wash cycle can be done without causing any damage. If using a washing machine, we recommend placing the garments in a mesh washing bag to avoid scratching or pulling of the garment. To wash by hand, please pay special attention to the following instructions: -Do not use harsh detergents that contain bleaches or brighteners. -Use cold to lukewarm water and mild soap such as baby shampoo –Add a few drops of hair conditioner to the final rinse water for an extra silky feel. -Never spray silk with perfume or deodorant -Never bleach silk To dry: Wrap silk in a dry towel then lay flat Never wring dry Never expose silk to direct sunlight for longer periods of time To iron: Always iron the backside only Never treat individual stains with water or spray silk with water while ironing. Do not iron at a high setting!
And then it goes on talking about the instructions to cashmere and bamboo stuff.
Notice the bolded line. Those instructions actually give a useful beauty tip! I would never think of using hair conditioner like that!
Now the before and after. I went to bed with nice, tidy hair in the first picture, to wake up like that. I went to bed with damp hair in the second, which usually makes things worse. And woke up like this. Magic.

I’ve been using it for a month now. I’m carrying this piece of cloth to every trip, hotel, mountain camp, sleep over party and such from now on.
Seriously, it’s a delight to sleep on it. I also found out that Beyoncé and Marilyn Monroe are among the devotees. I’m never letting this pillowcase go. If you want to see for yourself, you can find it here.
